
I totally respect people who choose not to eat meat because of the way animals are treated. Growing up on a farm, I used to go and cry in the haybarn whenever animals where slaughtered. My father must have despaired at this soft excuse for a Waikato farmers son he'd raised.......
But it's not natural, and it's not optimal. The key word there - optimal. Yes you can live to a ripe old age avoiding animal protein, but do you want years in your life, or life in your years? An optimal existence is one that involves developing, nuturing and using a strong healthy body to its full potential. And that potential is only realised through consumption of animals.
