My bro Dave rocked up to my house last week with a couple of plastic containers. He'd told me earlier that he was bringing Mexican food. Now, I've got Dave pretty schooled up on eating food rx'd (I'll share his recent transformation pics with you soon), but when I heard him say Mexican, I have to admit I was worried. For the most part, restaurant Mexican food has been relegated to high carb post competition or nutrition challenge blow outs.
But then Dave unveiled the Ground Beef Salad from Mexicali Fresh, and I was impressed.
- lots of meat
- a decent serving of veggies, even if it was mostly lettuce and tomato.
- avocado, salsa and a little cheese.
It did come with refried beans, which I ate, but I'm sure you can request without. And it could have been a little bit bigger for a couple of growing boys, but on the whole, good job Mexicali Fresh, and good job Davey boy! At only $11.50, I'd happily pay for some extra meat and avo to bulk it up a bit.
Got to apologise for the lack of posting here lately folks. Fell by the wayside what with moving to the new gym. Back on top of it now! If I'm ever stuck for inspiration, I'll be sharing more recipes and meal ideas in the future. Or feel free to ask about anything you'd like me to cover in the comments section.
Turns out that salad was already upgraded to double meat and extra avo. In Dave's words, "you ALWAYS ask for double meat on civilian portion sizes......" So while the ladies will be well fed with the $16 deluxe version, all you blokes better go mutant and just get two salads.........
