Turned up at the gym tonight to a packed class of people ready to tear into a short, heavy metcon. An awesome, buzzing atmosphere, with everyone working hard and having fun. And besides making you fitter, healthier human beings, fun is our very next priority!
It's no fun however when:
- you have to do burpees for forgetting someones name.
But it's also no fun when:
- the newbie doesn't know anyone.
It's no fun when:
- the coaches tell you that you're not squatting deep enough.
But it's also no fun when:
- you write an awesome score up on the whiteboard when it's fairly obvious to everyone that your range of motion was suspect.
It's no fun when:
- you're told you can't do the WOD with the top athletes and you have to do that uncool S+C workout with those dumb exercises that strengthen your shoulders, improve your pullups, burn fat, build muscle and develop your work capacity safely.
But it's also no fun when:
- you have to take 2 months off because you injured your shoulder practicing butterfly pullups, while the athletes who listened to the coach avoid injury and pass you by.......
Let's try and have as much fun as possible, and make sure that we have the right kind of 'no fun' too!
