Fale is training hard in the lead up to Sectionals. He's been working on his running a lot, and we've seen the results.
Still not sure what the Sectionals are? Last year they were a series of competitions run around the world, in order to qualify the first stage of competitors for the CrossFit Games in Los Angeles. The top 20 men and women from our section (NZ/Victoria/Tasmania) went on to the Australasian Regional competition, where the podium finishers booked a ticket for the Games. The Regionals also held team events to qualify for the popular Affiliate Cup. Last year we sent a female and also an Affiliate team to LA, and we'd love to see something similar happen this year.
The rules have changed a lil bit though.
This time it's not all decided in a single weekend. First you have to complete a workout per week, for six weeks. And to get to the Regionals, you have to emerge amongst the top 60 men or women in Australasia.
Already writing yourself off as not good enough? CrossFit Founder and CEO Greg Glassman has raised two goals for the CrossFit Games process.
1. Find find the fittest man and woman in the world.
2. Make the process as inclusive as possible.
Last year we had about a dozen athletes from CFNZ in Sydney, and this year we'd love to see an even better showing. We have a good chance to qualify a team, and your help will go a long way.
Here's how it works - after every event, the top 3 mens and womens scores from CFNZ contribute to our teams final score. There is no limit to the number of people contributing to the team score, and different athletes can score top 3 each week.
WHICH MEANS........that even if you don't think you are capable of dominating the games, there still might be a particular workout that you can kick butt in, which increases the teams chance of qualifying. If you are at all interested in competing, in testing yourself against strict standards, or even just want to join in on the fun, then think seriously about registering.
